These rides are NOT supported, so if you would like to ride along, please provide your own transportation, meals, lodging, bike repair etc. and accept the policy below for safe biking.
In consideration of my intent to participate in a ride along with Stella Orechia during her northwest cycling journey, I hereby agree and acknowledge the following, which includes a release of liability.
1. I am aware that with any bicycle related activity there are certain inherent dangers, including but not limited to the hazards of roads, on and off road terrain, accidents, over-exertion, dehydration, and the actions of other participants, pedestrians, and vehicular traffic. By my participation with Stella, I certify that I am aware of these inherent dangers of bicycle riding and the safety rules of the road applicable to bicycles.
2. I understand that bicycle helmets are required to participate, and I agree to wear one on this ride along. I will also follow the bicycling rules of the road. I will use a legal, functioning and safe bicycle, have spare parts, and proper attire for weather conditions.
3. I understand that it is not the function of the event rider, Stella Orechia, or any organization she represents Bellevue College, Northwest Communities of Burma (NWCB) to serve as guardians of my safety. I understand that considerable fitness level is required to safely complete these rides. Stella Orechia reserves the right to request that a rider remove themselves from participating if they deem to be endangering himself/herself or others riding along.
4. I recognize that the route(s) chosen may be challenging, not necessarily the safest or easiest route(s) and that weather, road or traffic conditions may make a ride more difficult. I hereby consent to emergency medical treatment if I am injured while participating in a ride along for this event.
5. I freely and voluntarily accept all risks of injury, death, or property damage. I understand and agree that none of the parties described below may be held liable in any way for any occurrence or accident in connection with this ride along. I hereby RELEASE FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY and agree to INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS, rider Stella Orechia, Bellevue College, NWCB and their officers, agents, successors and assigns, the sponsors or other volunteers, against all claims, including, but not limited to, claims of negligence, intentional acts, and acts of omission, and any dangers or expense, arising from my participation in a ride along. I understand I am responsible for my own support, and with my conduct and decisions while on this ride along, and further agree that this Waiver & Release shall apply to any claim arising out of my participation in non-bicycling activities while riding along or at the picnic after the ride along.
6. This Waiver & Release is intended to be binding upon me, my family, my heirs, my estate, my legal representatives and assigns. I understand that the terms of this document are contractual and not a mere recital, and I have signed this document as my own free and voluntary act.
Parent or legal guardian must sign for, accompany, and be responsible for all persons under the age of 18; minors ages 16-17 may be unaccompanied with this signed consent form AND 24-hour advance permission of Stella Orechia or other authorized NWCB official.
I authorize emergency medical treatment for the minor registering and I accept full responsibility for all medical expenses incurred as a result of the minor’s participation in any Event. I hereby RELEASE FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY and agree to INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS, rider Stella Orechia, Bellevue College, NWCB and their officers, agents, successors and assigns, the sponsors or other volunteers, against all claims, including, but not limited to, claims of negligence, intentional acts, and acts of omission, and any dangers or expense, arising from my participation in a ride along. I understand I am responsible for my own support, and with my conduct and decisions while on this ride along, and further agree that this Waiver & Release shall apply to any claim arising out of my participation in non-bicycling activities while riding along or at the picnic after the ride along.
I further state that I am of lawful age, a parent or legal guardian of the minor authorized to sign this waiver & release and this Addendum and legally competent to sign this waiver & release and Addendum. I understand that the terms of this document are contractual and not a mere recital, and I have signed this document as my own free and voluntary act.
